We're thrilled to introduce one of our amazing salsa dance instructors, Aminah Jackson! Aminah is a Los Angeles native with a unique blend of African American and Mexican American heritage. She's got a solid foundation in West African traditional dance and Mexican Folklorico, and has received formal training from the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, The Ailey School Summer Program, and Howard University.
Aminah has been teaching Latin Social Dance for years as a Dance Teaching Artist through CONTRA-TIEMPO Urban Latin Dance Theatre in Los Angeles. She's taught at universities like LMU, USC, and UCLA, and has helped countless students perfect their moves.
For the past decade, Aminah has dedicated herself to AfroLatin social dance and traditional forms like Salsa, Yoruba/Orisha, and Cuban Casino. She's even been a dancer for the "Ocandeniye Dance Company," an AfroCuban performance ensemble. Recently, she's been working as an Assistant and ongoing mentee of Jhesus Aponte, an Afro-Puertorican 2 Time World Salsa Dance Champion.
We're so excited to have Aminah on board with us at Welcome Back Boricua. She's an incredible instructor with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and we know you'll love learning from her as much as we do!
